Cold traps are installed between the vacuum chamber and the vacuum pump. Cold traps are used in vacuum systems to generate hard vacua by condensing the major constituents of the atmosphere(nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and water)into their liquid or solid forms.
Placing a cold trap at the suction of oil pump greatly lower the risk that oil vapor will backstream into the vacuum chamber.
Cold traps can also be used as a condenser to separate the gases with different melting point. This is accomplished through the use of a coolant such as liquid nitrogen or a similar solvent with a low melting point. This application is usually for the experiments involving vacuum lines as small-scale very low temperature condensations.
Htc provides cold traps of stable quality, the flange type of connecting nozzle could be tube end, KF, ISO, ANSI, CF and other specifications upon request.

Operation instruction:
- Step 1:Connecting the cold trap and vacuum pump and pump down to the pressure lower than 10-2 torr
- Step 2:Put a stainless steel funnel at the inlet of liquid nitrogen, pour the liquid nitrogen into the cold trap inner tank slowly from the storage Dewars until the inner tank is full filled.
- Step 3:Take the funnel off, monitor the liquid nitrogen remained in the inner tank, you can refer to the table below as a reference:

Cautions:
- Avoid skin and eye contact with liquid nitrogen and low temperature surfaces.
- Protection devices(gloves, goggles, etc.) should be use while filling liquid nitrogen.
- Deal with liquid nitrogen in ventilation environment.
